AUTHORITY & SUBMISSION

Text : Hebrew 13:17

Obey your spiritual leaders, and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit .

Today, I shall be starting a series on one major responsibility of every leader and follower. Let's start with the Leader.

Many a leaders think or behave as though they are special breed over the followers. They often think in terms of *Superiority* instead of *accountability* They seem to forget that they are only stewards or shepherds that will give account to the *_Chief Shepherd_ .* (Acts 20:28, 1Peter 5:4).

In Mathew chapter 20 verses 25 and 26, Jesus called His disciples together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials _flaunt their authority over those under them_ .But among you it will be different....... ,

*The major contrast* between spiritual and secular leaders is what(who) they are watching over or leading. While the spiritual leader is watching over Souls( *eternal* *beings* ),Secular leaders are only watching over the outward man( *perishable and temporal* *beings* ).

This is the only reason a spiritual leader must sit up! Being an individual with spiritual authority is no fanfare! As a spiritual leader, your Supervisor is no man but SPIRIT being-the Godhead(the trinity).

If you know that you will be giving *account* to Spirit about a work done in the physical realm, then we should fear. I say to every leader(at whatever capacity you are serving as one), Be careful how you discharge your duty over your followers.

_Authority is a dangerous sword that must not be given to a novice_ .

'.... *Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil ". 1 Timothy 3:6

A novice in leadership position will surely wield the sword against himself or herself.

Though, some leaders are not novice, but because they have refused to take an intentional journey with the Lord, they have remained a novice after so many years of being in Christ. Such leaders can be very dangerous over the sheep(followers). They do not know how to lead a SOUL. Saul, the very first king over Israel is an example of such novice leader.

_Now the men of Israel were pressed to exhaustion that day, because Saul had placed them under an oath, saying, “Let a curse fall on anyone who eats before evening—before I have full revenge on my enemies.” So no one ate anything all day_ ,(1Sam14:24).

*May your Leaders always be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, so that they will not jeopardize your destiny* .

PRAYER FOCUS

1. Lord help my leader(s) to fully understand the weight of the position they are occupging.

2. Pray that the leader(s) set over you will not miss the plan of God for the position they are occupying in and over your life.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

BEWARE OF DOGS

Text :  Philippians 3:2. Beware of the dogs! Beware of the evil workers! Beware of the mutilators! Usually, when you see the inscription "BEWARE OF DOGS", you instantly know there's a wild or trained dog around the corner, hence, the need to beware.  However, when God says 'Beware of dogs,' He wasn't actually referring to dogs as in 'animals' but to animals in human skin. Note that this caution was given to believers against other so-called  believers.  That is, some people within the church that we refer to as brothers and sisters are actually operating in the capacity of dogs.Though fellow worshippers in the church are called brothers and sisters, but if they behave like wild animals, know that they are dogs in humans skin- BEWARE. Matthew  7:6 says *Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.*  Essentially, dogs don't have capacity to r...
