WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

Text : Gal. 6:16.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh._ 

So many Christians have hit the rock as far as the Christian race is concerned. They just go to church and do religion, but they are no longer journeying. The pursuit of Holy living and sanctification is no longer there. 

You have been called to a race. Christianity is not religion, it's a race. Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the *race that is set before us.* Heb 12:1. This implies that you are in a RACE. 

To run this race however, you must play according to the rules or else you you won't get the prize.You know that in a race all the runners run but only one wins the prize, don’t you? You must run in such a way that you may be victorious.1Co 9:24.

Any believer who runs according to the rules is considered to be walking in the Spirit. One of the first rules is to walk in the Spirit. The moment you stopped walking in the Spirit, you start fulfilling the lust of the flesh. 

Walking denotes movement. Some years after you have given your life to Christ, you must be able to look back and see how far you have journeyed from who you used to be. Note that if there is no movement forward, there's is certainly movement backward. 

Galatians 5:19-21 enumerated what the works of the flesh are. When you walk in the Spirit, you will journey away from these dead works. If you are still entangled with any of these works,  know that you are not really walking in the Spirit. 

It is easy to be sliding back into these fleshy works and not realise it, simply because you are not consciously walking according to the leading of the Spirit. Rom 8:14.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Rom. 8:11-12.

 *WALK IN THE SPIRIT AND YOU WILL NOT FULFIL THE LUST OF THE FLESH*

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil.
