STOP TOYING WITH IDOLS

Text : Exodus 32:6 

And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play._

Though the Israelites offered burnt and peace offerings, but it all amounted to sinful offerings. They offered what was meant for God to "calf image" (idol). 

Apostle John strictly warned us: "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." 1 John  5:21.

The sin of Idolatry is not just limited to bowing down before a statute. In whatever name you raise a statute, it is simply an Idolatry. Some even raise a statute and call her "The mother of Jesus" They pray before it. This is simply Idolatry that God commanded we shouldn't do. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:Exodus 20:4 

Our focus today is on those sins which have become idol in our lives. This is what Apostle John warned us against. Once you exalted anything or anyone above God and His Son, such has become a sin of Idolatry. The sin of Idolatry is a very subtle sin for us under the new covenant. Some have idolized God's messengers(Apostle, Prophets,Evangelists  and Pastors or Teachers). They move from one Pastor or Prophet to another, seeking prayers and deliverance. These men of God too have accepted the position of Idols. While it is expected that every man of God should lead people to God, many now are leading the people to themselves. 

This was the position that Aaron took. He led the people of God away from God(Ex 32:1-2). A man of God who cannot teach people how to be saved from sins, gain deliverance from the devil and receive healing on their own; may just be holding them to ransome. 

The duty of God's servants in the New Testament is to lead men to God. Our duty as God's messengers is not to seek to be idol to people. It is not to be a prayer contractor for people. God's servant' s duty under this dispensation of Grace is to LEAD MEN TO GOD. 

You can see God for yourself, stop idolizing any man or anointing. God will also hear you just as He is hearing any man of God.

All you need do is to be sure that you have received Jesus as your Saviour and Lord.

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." TIME IN ETERNITY

Text : Psalms 90:12  So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom._  Our God dwells in eternity past, present and future. In between these phases of eternity, He created man to dwell in Time. When man sinned, he fell short of God's plan, and death came in.(Rom 3:23). Death therefore short circuit man's life in eternity. This is the reason Jesus.came.  He had to come into TIME in order to remove the PAUSE  death HAD on man.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.  Every man born into this world automatically becomes an eternal being. The question therefore is, which side of eternity would such a man dwell? Everlasting life or Everlasting condemnation? Time is an opportunity given to man to trade for eternal life.
