SPIRITUAL PARENTING

Text : Gen 18:19  

For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

By divine arrangement, everyone in this world has to come through a family. God designed it that everyone would be nurtured by Parents. But many Parents are failing in their God-given roles. 

However,  God in His wisdom did not limit parenting to biological births only,  and that is why we have "Spiritual Parenting".Spiritual Parenting is the process of raising and educating a child (biological or otherwise)  from birth to maturity. 

From our text,  God was vouching concerning Abraham that he will raise his children  in the way of the Lord. At this time,  Abraham had not given birth to Isaac-his biological child of promise, but he was raising the slaves' children in his house in the way of the Lord already. 

"And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him".Gen 17:23. Abraham didn't wait till he got Isaac (his promised child) before he started raising other people's children in the way of the Lord. 

Note that the children you refused to train today will be among those who will disturb your peace tomorrow. 

Are you a Parent?  How are you faring in raising the Heritage of God that He has committed to your care? 

Are you intentional in raising them for God,  or are you collaborating with the devil in raising more Monsters in our society? 

Or are you the type that are nonchalant about anyone that is not your blood? 

As far as Spiritual parenting is concerned, you are either a parent  vested with the responsibility of raising another life,  or you are the child that is being raised. Whichever way,  you will give account of your stewardship or your submissiveness.

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively.
