SPIRITUAL PARENTING 3

Text : Gen 18:19

For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

It always take two to tangle. No matter how well the parents tried,  from the moment a child is born,  his contribution is needed in order to record good success.

In the spirit,  a child is born the moment he becomes born again. Just as the word implies, he has been born the second time. John 3:3,5. The first time being the physical birth and the second, the spiritual birth. John 1:12.

Jesus Christ our Master, gave the great commission to the disciples in Matthew 28:18-20, so that everyone that will experience the second birth, will do so through the witness of another person. (family line).

Technically, whoever (male or female) ministers the gospel to you and you gained understanding enough to surrender your life to Jesus is your spiritual parent. (If you have never had this experience,  you need to do so now,  and give a feedback through this medium).

However,  it is possible that you could no longer trace that person for obvious reasons. Maybe  you got the message through book,  Television, radio,  or even at a gathering but you just couldn't lay hold on the person.  There's no cause for alarm.  You can still enjoy your full spiritual parenting through any other spirit-filled person that God has positioned within your reach.

You will identify such fellow by the love he or she shows and by his or her readiness to impact you with spiritual knowledge. In the spirit,  Paul may plant while Apollos waters, it is the Lord who brings the increase. 1 Cor. 3:6. But for parenting to take place, you as the child, must be willing to play your part:

1. You must have desire: 1Peter 2:2 says, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: That is,  you need milk to grow, but you must desire the milk first.  There's nothing as frustrating as trying to feed a child that has no appetite or desire for the food.

One evidence of life is the desire and longing for food. Under normal circumstances,

A mother doesn't struggle to feed her baby.  The baby rather sucks the milk out. All she needs do is put the baby to milk.

*If you have lost taste,  appetite or desire for spiritual things,  tell God about it and He will revive your taste buds.  Don't stay long in that state,  it's very dangerous*

2. Another thing expected of a child in the school of the Spirit is *OBEDIENCE*  Eph 6:1 KJV Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.Heb 13:17.  *The word says, don't just Obey,  but also submit to them*

3. Honour your parents.

Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)Eph 6:2. This command goes to your spiritual father and mother too,  as a  matter of fact,  they deserve double honour.

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of *double honour,* especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.1Tim 5:17.

For your sake, wisdom demands that you let your spiritual parents perform their duties over you with joy and not with grief so it may be well with you.

*Honour them with your substance, obey and submit to them and you will not walk in error.*

Bible reading: Genesis 18:16-33.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

WHEN GOD IS SILENT(2)

Text: Matthew 4:1  *Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.*  We saw yesterday that God was not pleased with many israelites that left Egypt for the promised land  (Corinthians 10:5).  A good percentage of the Israelites were overthrown in the wilderness.   Wilderness experience is not what any child of God desires, but it is an experience God sends or allows his children go through. In Deuteronomy 8:2, God says that He *LED* the Isrealites through the wilderness for forty years to humble them, to prove them, and to know what was in their heart whether they would keep his commandments or not.  Our Lord Jesus Christ was also *LED* into the wilderness by the Spirit of the Lord to be tempted by the devil. You will  notice there is a similar feature of the number *40(forty)* between these two wilderness experiences. That is, that of the Israelites and our Lord Jesus Christ. The Israelites spent 40years, Jesu...
