HEART MATTERS 2

Text : Dan 1:8.

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

Daniel had every right to be bittered in his heart. For no direct fault of his, he was among the people who were captured as slaves to Babylon. On getting to Babylon,  he was castrated because he was selected as part of the slaves who will be serving as Eunuchs  to the king of Babylon. Castration was one of the requirements of those that will serve within the palace at that time.

Note that Daniel was only a teenager when this unfortunate incidence happened. Yet without the presence or tutelage of his Parents, his Pastors or Bible study teachers, he still chose to stand for God.

Contrary to some people's school of thought that being faithful to God would be easy if given a palatable situation.

The likes of Daniel,  his three friends and other heroes that are recorded in the bible had proven this theory to be false.

Though they were faced with very challenging situations, yet their faith in God was not shaken. The question is,  how were they able to stand for God amidst terrible circumstances?  Well,  the answer is very simple,  it's all a matter of their hearts.

Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself. Daniel 1:8.

Joseph said how can I do this great wickedness and sin against God.Gen.39:9. That is, the reason he couldn't "enjoy himself" by commiting fornication was because he regarded God in his heart.

It is all a matter of the heart. The reason you are falling so cheaply to the same temptation is because of the state of your heart.  Some things come to us as a gift. But some things take efforts from your end before it can work.

Salvation is a gift of God to mankind, but staying save requires your commitment. You must no longer regard iniquity in your heart. Because if you regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear you :Psa 66:18

What are you regarding in your heart?  God or iniquity?

What you do in your heart(mind) is your choice,  You can decide to choose God all the time.

*Those who willfully decide not to retain the knowledge of God in their hearts will eventually be handed over to reprobate minds. Please, don't ever get to that point. Romans 1:28* .

Bible reading: Daniel 1:1-21.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
