BATTLE OF THE MIND

Text : Matthew 4:5-6

Then the devil took him to the Holy City and had him stand on the highest point of the Temple.

He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written, ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and, ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’”

The battle of the mind is the fiercest of all battles. Every victory or defeat is gotten first in the mind.

Before our Lord Jesus Christ went to Calvary to be crucified,  he had gone there first in His mind at the mount of Olives. It was at this point that he actually won the battle on His kneels. There, it was recorded that His sweat was like blood. Luke 22:39-46.

The Spiritual rules the Physical. Everything that happened in the 'seen realm' had first and foremost taken place in the 'unseen realm'.

Satan engages man in his mind through thoughts and ideas. Once he is able to capture your thoughts by selling his evil agenda to you,  the rest would just be manifestation. This has been his age-long strategy.

He used this strategy for the first Adam through his wife, Eve,  in Genesis 3:1.

Thousands of years later,  he tried the same method with the creator of heaven and earth Himself. Imagine the effrontery!!!

Whenever you read of the temptation of Jesus,  you may be tempted to assume that it took place in a particular geographical location,  but the Bible told us that the Spirit led Jesus into the **wilderness* to be tempted of the devil. Matthew 4:1. And Jesus didn't leave the wilderness till the temptation was over. The book of Mark told us that He(Jesus)was with the wild animals during the period of the forty days to proof that the temptation really took place in the wilderness.

"He was in the wilderness for 40 days being tempted by Satan. He was among wild animals, and angels were ministering to him."Mark 1:13 ISV .

You will recall that Satan took Jesus Christ on two occasions to places during this temptation.

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,Mat 4:5.

If Jesus didn't leave the wilderness,  and the temple was not built in the wilderness,  then it is clear that, this event took place in Jesus' mind.

If the devil can patronise Jesus in this way,  then you should know he is no respecter of persons. If our Master was tempted, you will be tempted too. Matthew 10:25.

The good news is unlike the first Adam,  the last Adam who is our Lord and Savior didn't fail His temptation,  He overcame. This is our victory,  because He overcame,  He has given us the template and the assurance of victory too.

Our master overcame through the written word,  there are no two ways to it, you will only overcome by the written words.

The word is our sword. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:Eph 6:17. *You must learn how to take the Sword,  and you must learn how And when to wield it.*

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.Heb 4:12.

How much of the word do you know?

How much of the written words are you conversant with? It's time to know Him (the word) for yourself and stop depending on someone to fight your battles for you.

Bible reading: Matthew 4:1-11.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

WAY MAKER-2

Text: Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing: now it shall spring forth: shall ye not know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness,  and rivers in the desert. God promised that He will do a new thing for you, and that He will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. He has done this before, and He will do it again even in your own life.  When the children of Israel left Egypt, the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them, encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.(Exodus 14:9). Just like anyone would react, the Isrealites became so fearful because there is neither way forward nor back for them to escape. Before them was the red sea, behind them were the Egyptian armies. They became perplexed and began to murmur against Moses. It is possible you are also in a situation like the Israelites- No way forward, and no way behind. Things may appear like you are ...

HIS VOICE- 2

Text : John 10:3. To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out. We established yesterday that one thing you can't joke with as a true follower of Christ is *His Voice.* You must recognise and hearken to (obey) His voice. It is in doing this that your safety is assured.  Today, we want to see another responsibility of the Shepherd over His sheep.  To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calls his own sheep by name, *and leads them out.* John 10:3.  He called you, that He might lead you. It is not enough for you to hear or recognise His Voice, you must allow Him to lead you as well.  Romans 8:14 says *For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.*   The Spirit leading you determines the family you belong to. Basically,  there are only two families in this world - the family of God, and the family of satan. In other words, we can say the Kingdom...
