TAKE NO THOUGHT (2)

Text: Mathew 6:25

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?_*

Yesterday the Lord was speaking to us not to take thoughts on what to eat (Food) and Drink. Today, He shall be speaking to us about *RAIMENT*

After the fall of man in the garden of Eden, we saw that man is no longer satisfied with the coverings (raiment)earlier provided by God.

Adam and Eve had to go consult a tree for coverings. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.Genesis 3:7

This invention of sewing fig leaves to cover their nakedness was not from the Lord. It was from the knowledge of the tree of good and evil they took.

God's initial plan was to provide coverings(HIS GLORY) for man. And this He did until the fall of man.

Today, raiment can be seen as anything that covers shame. Anyone without raiment walking on the street will be termed as insane person.

The important question however is: can clothes cover your shame? The answer is an emphatic NO. Shame itself can be a clothe which came on man as a result of sin.  Adam was only trying to remove the shameful cloth (of Nakedness) by wearing fig leaves. And this has been the attempt of every man (without Christ).

Jesus therefore was communicating a simple principle on why we should not be taking  thoughts on something that can't cover the real shame. As much as God wouldn't want us naked in the physical. He also wouldn't want us to think that clothes are our coverings. We must come to the point where we know that God is our true  covering. Hence, we should desist from worrying ourselves about what to wear. (Deut 29:5). We should look at the cross and see how Jesus was striped naked for our shame (Mathew 27;28).

He wore our shame on the cross. Your worries should not be what to wear, rather you should be thinking of how to be clothed by the GLORY of God which was man's initial clothing before the fall.

When you are clothed with expensive clothes without God's glory, you will still be ashamed. But when you are clothed with God's  Glory and no thoughts about what to wear, God will also clothe you in the natural.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
