ONE THING

Text: Luke 10:42

"But only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."NIV

Can you imagine you having a VVIP guest like a President in your home on a Sunday evening. Having just your sister at home to help do few errands to prepare for this important guest, you were a bit at rest. You discussed with her what she would do for you once the president comes around. The work has been shared in such a way that your guest would be maximally entertained.

Now on the D-day, the president arrived. You welcome him and swing into action. While you start running up and down, your sister Mary just sat down charting with the president.

Now it seems to you that your sister is not keeping up with the agreement. Having given her several signs which she neglected; you decided to talk to the president yourself. “Please Mr. President sir, can you command my sister to join me prepare a delicacy for you”   Surprisingly,  the president answered you by saying “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needful”

That was just the scenario that happened in Luke 10:38-42. Jesus told Martha that she was troubled and occupied with too many things except sitting to LISTEN which Mary chose. Jesus is much more concerned about you sitting at His feet to learn than running errands for Him. He is much more concerned about you listening to His heartbeat than trying to entertain Him with your “Busyness in the church or anywhere”

The bible says in Mark 3:14  Jesus ordained twelve, that they should *be with him* , and that he might send them forth to preach.   The first thng He wanted from the 12 was to BE WITH HIM FIRST. He needed them to hear Him before they are sent out to preach.

Our Lord  would prefer you sit to hear from Him than that work you are doing for Him. It is surprising to know that many people that are working in the church hardly could take out time to talk to God on daily basis. They only have time to be a chorister, bible study teacher, usher in the church but no time for Jesus in their private lives. Several people like to show off in the church doing one thing or the other but they do not take out time on daily basis to study and pray. Some even have time for partying, clubbing, hanging around with friends, attending to other things but no time for the ONE who gives them Time and Life

“Only one thing is needful” Jesus said. This means that other things are not needful. Mary chose that one thing that is needful. Psalm 27:4

Today you can prayerfully consider that ONE thing that is needful(sitting to hear from Jesus), and you will realize that other things you have been worried about will be sorted out.

THE GOOD FIGHT-2

Text:  1 Timothy  6:12   Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Another thing to pursue in fighting the good fight of faith is Godliness. We understand through the Holy scriptures that godliness is profitable unto all things.   *For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.* 1 Timothy  4:8.  You will reap the reward of your godliness not only when you get to heaven, but from here on earth. And this is why we are admonished to exercise ourselves unto godliness. (1 Timothy  4:7), because godliness with contentment is great gain.1 Timothy  6:6. Godliness is the practice of conforming to the image of God by reflecting the nature of the kingdom of God in the course of everyday life. In other words, godliness is living and portray...

IT IS WRITTEN AGAIN

Text: Matthew 4:6. He told Jesus, “Since you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, because it is written,   ‘God will put his angels in charge of you,’ and,   ‘With their hands they will hold you up, so that you will never hit your foot against a rock.’ Jesus knocked devil off with "it is written" when he came to him with the first temptation. So, the devil too decided to use "it is written" for Jesus for the second temptation.  Don't be deceived, the devil knows the scriptures too. Second Corinthians 11:14 says,  "Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." So, it's no surprise when you see Satan's messengers masquerading themselves as Apostle of Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:14.  The word of God is perfect. Yet, many people can twist it to their advantage and ultimately to their disadvantage. A drunk, smoker, fornicator, liar and all sort can justify their sinful lifestyles with a Bible verse. See to it that you do not twist the word of Go...

IN MY NAME.

Text : Mark 16:17-18  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Having believed in the gospel (Good news of the resurrection of Jesus and His victory over Sin, Satan and Death), you now need to start using the name of Jesus authoritatively. JESUS said that in His name you shall cast out devils; you shall speak with new tongues; you shall take up serpents; and if you drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt you; you shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. This means that you will undertake all these in the authority of Jesus' name. No matter how small or powerless you may think you are in your own eyes. Once you believe in His name, you shall do all that He promised.   Unbelief was the sin that Israelites committed that wasted a whol...
